Here are a few reasons dogs may dig and how to help:
A. Boredom can be helped by exercise and buy using toys to help beat boredom. Try using a Kong ball stuffed with healthy treats and picking out a toy per day and consistently rotating them each day. This will help the dog stay stimulated with the toys each day and not get bored with any one particular toy.
B. Cooling can be helped by using a kiddy pool with 1 or 2 inches of water in it or creating a nice shaded area for the dog.
C. Burying toys and bones can be helped by giving the dog bigger toys or taking the bones, drilling a hole in the middle and tying relatively close to a tree or stable fence so they can’t burry.
